Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Prediction Time: How Will The Canucks Fare in 2015-16? Looking at the moves Jim Benning has made up to this point, can the Vancouver Canucks take another step forward in his second year in charge?

I think this team can still make the playoffs, do I want them to? hell no, but I don't get a choice. I'm not a big fan of 1st round exits.

I don't think they will get 101 points this season. As we know the west got better, LA won't miss the playoffs, Edmonton will beat us a few times, our defense is still a mess, there are a lot of new faces on the team that will try to create a new identity and play a different style. I say 90 points tops.

This is for steamer .

Hell no to making the playoffs is just stupid you make the playoffs and there is always a chance. The goal should be the same every season and that is getting better and getting there. Winners set themselves up to make it every time and believe it to their core. That is the difference between being a winner and a loser. You can say its not a simple as that and fine. All for the sake of a draft pick. For Shame.

I'm tired of making the playoffs, there is no team in the top 8 in the west that this team can beat in the playoffs. Not making the playoffs is my choice and I'm not stupid.

I never said you were stupid your statement of not wanting to make the playoffs is. We will never be in a top 5 draft position with this team on paper and I for one enjoy playoff hockey when my team is involved. Nobody likes being knocked out in the first round but suck it up. So picking 8th to 12th to 15th is okay. I don't buy that. I will take my chances in the playoffs for a chance all be it a slight one to see my team raise that BAd a$$ cup.

We are in Year two of the rebuild ---- people tend to forget that and think it won't actually begin until we hit some sort of level of lethargy in the standings that represents rock bottom.

On the other hand, I see a slow and steady improving that comes with a turn over of 50% of the team (I was so shocked when I realized that stat) and the development of young players under the tutelage of veterans.

What does that mean for standings? Who knows? Unless you are an elite team, I am not sure anyone wants to make the playoffs. Publicly, the organization is saying the right things --- the goal is to make the playoffs --- but I would be very happy with steady and slow long term improvements.

The only thing I will not abide is a Toronto-style led balloon tank. That was so unprofessional I hope it marks the organization for years to come.

not good enough for playoffs but not bad enough for a bottom 5 pick.

I expect a dip in points for the season, but I won't measure their success by the number of points earned, more about seeing the plan start to come together. If younger players are integrated, some additional picks are recouped and Benning's guys prove the fancy stat crowd wrong, I would consider that a success.

My darkhorse prediction for the season is Higgins. If he gets consistent ice time I predict a 25 goals campaign.

I see us as a bottom 5 team. I think this is the yr we selll off pieces.
Benning not wanting to discuss a extension for Hamhuis?.

Prediction.

Canucks get off to a slow start and Edler is traded along with a vet roster player for a good young d prospect.
Hamhuis and Vrbata are gone at deadline.

One part I did like in the article was , when Benning has a vision of what he wants a player to do, he moulds him into that type player. Good example Benning moulding Mackenze Stewart into a 4 th line fighter instead of a bad Dman
